Ridgeview happily accepts applications throughout the year for all faculty and staff positions, regardless of whether a specific position has been posted, as jobs periodically become available throughout the year. Teachers are hired based upon their mastery of academic disciplines and ability to convey knowledge to young people. Certification is neither required nor preferred.

Unless otherwise noted, a complete application includes a Ridgeview Application Form, a résumé, a one-page letter of interest, and copies of transcripts. These materials may be submitted via email to the Executive Assistant, unless otherwise noted.

+ Elementary Faculty

Ridgeview Classical Schools is seeking interested and qualified candidates for elementary faculty. Teachers in the elementary school make heavy use of the original Core Knowledge sequence, though the school rejects innovations that align the curriculum with the Common Core. Many aspects of the elementary curriculum have been strengthened by incorporating other programs or implementing curricula unique to Ridgeview. For instance, Latin is taught to pupils from kindergarten on, and Greek is introduced to students in the third grade. While instruction at these levels is of an elementary nature, it is also of a foundational nature and serves pupils well in their study of new vocabulary by enabling them to understand etymologies as well as grammar. Other deviations from the Core Knowledge sequence include a cursive penmanship program, the Singapore mathematics program and pupil ability grouping therein, and a Riggs phonics program.

Ridgeview is seeking applicants who are passionate about their discipline, creative, teachable, and excited to work with a broad range of pupils to ensure that their pupils are adequately prepared for the rigors of the upper school curriculum. Ridgeview neither requires nor prefers candidates with a teacher certification and would rather solicit applications from individuals who have demonstrated academic mastery in a core subject such as history, mathematics, science, or literature. Teaching experience is preferred but is not essential. Written and oral communication skills, punctuality, a strong work ethic, and collegiality are essential. Interested individuals should submit a complete application to the [Executive Assistant.](mailto: epeyronnin@ridgeviewclassical.org)

Upon submitting a complete application, candidates may be contacted for an interview with the Headmaster. Successful candidates will then be asked to conduct a mock teach and interview with a hiring committee. After this, final hiring decisions are made.

+ Classics/Literature Faculty

Ridgeview Classical Schools is seeking interested and qualified candidates for a blended Humanities position in its upper school. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a mastery of Latin (familiarity with Classical Greek is also desirable, but not required) and be willing to teach the traditional trivium subjects (Grammar, Logic, & Rhetoric) to a broad range of pupils.

Ridgeview’s Classics program focuses on language, literature, history, mythology, and archaeology, though not all teachers are expected to teach all of these subjects. In the middle and upper levels, Wheelock’s Latin is used extensively so that pupils may eventually read and discuss primary source texts from Cicero, Virgil, Horace, Livy, and Ovid, among others. The Literature department preserves the tradition of reading whole texts, utilizes extensive Socratic discussion in the classroom, and adheres to the highest standard of academic writing. The Trivium sequence prepares students to meaningfully engage with and reflect on "the best that has been thought and said".

Ridgeview neither requires nor prefers candidates with teacher certifications but would rather solicit applications from individuals who have demonstrated academic mastery in these subjects. Ideal candidates will be familiar with the fundamentals of classical education and defenders of the Western tradition. Interested individuals should submit a complete application to the [Executive Assistant.](mailto: epeyronnin@ridgeviewclassical.org)

+ Mathematics Faculty

Ridgeview Classical Schools is seeking interested and qualified candidates for faculty positions in the Mathematics Department. Ridgeview’s instruction in mathematics emphasizes a conceptual approach and cumulative retention. All pupils are given the opportunity to test into the highest level of mathematics in which they can reasonably be successful. A mainstay of the instruction of mathematics at all levels is a conceptual understanding of the math being undertaken; consequently, a Socratic discussion in the classroom supports this process and ensures that pupils can demonstrate the knowledge they claim to possess. Ridgeview is committed to a true liberal arts curriculum, meaning that arts and humanities are emphasized as much as mathematics and science. Consequently, many of the conversations that ensue in the classrooms are of a cross-disciplinary nature. Beyond the Singapore curriculum, Ridgeview offers courses from pre-algebra through number theory, advanced geometry, statistics, and independent studies in linear algebra and differential equations. Not all teachers are expected to teach all course levels. Rather, Ridgeview is seeking applicants who are passionate about their discipline, creative, teachable, and excited to work with a broad range of pupils.
